It’s Tuesday, Easter is over, and the children have gone back to school today. I took a walk around the duck pond after drop off and now I’m sitting in a quiet house with only the swish of the washing machine and the call of birds outside.
I’m still on a bit of a high from my exhibition opening, Memento Vivere, at Woolloongabba Art Gallery on Saturday. Thanks so much to everyone who came! It is amazing to see all the works hung together. Being able to talk to people about the work and explain the concept and the symbolism was so rewarding.
Investing your time, energy and money in to creating a collection of work is such a gamble as an artist. I pictured myself not selling a single piece and being left with frames stacked around my house! Instead, the pieces have been well received, been finalists in three prizes, and will be in three solo exhibitions this year. The next being the opening at Logan Art Gallery on the 29th of July, and the previous being the exhibition at Tuggeranong Arts. Fourteen of the works have sold, and two pieces, ‘Social Distancing’ and ‘Remember to Live’, have sold out of each of their three editions.
You can see the online catalogue here, request a price list by sending me an email at christina-lowry@hotmail.com, or purchase a piece by contacting Alex at Woolloongabba Art Gallery.
The exhibition continues until the 7th of May.
