Bird Studies I - III

Bird Studies I, II and III (2022)
There is something about taxidermy birds that I find so compelling. A mixture of natural history and cabinet of curiosities. Beautiful, still, sad. A human desire to understand the animal kingdom and our place with in it. Humans as protectors and hunters. Documenting specimens by killing them. Changing our world and the environment so that these dead specimens are sometimes all we have left of species that once inhabited our planet alongside us.
A taxidermy bird is a loaded symbol.
